SUMMER 2024 UPDATE:
As our children are aging and becoming more active, we've decided to reduce our herd to focus on only those that travel for Showing/4H/Fair.  All others who do not travel with us will be looking for new homes to reduce the workload at home when we are away.  These are not culls, but rather really nice animals that we don't currently have the time to work with and would possibly find a better fit elsewhere.

Phoebe is currently in milk and now being milked once a day until I dry her off by mid-August.  She and has perfect stand manners and is used to being milked both by hand and machine.  Phoebe is also familiar with the show ring.  Keeping a small herd means hard cuts and this one is certainly one of the hardest decisions we've had to make.

Phoebe has a beautiful general appearance and s
he milks down with such ease that she's my favorite to milk, but only having ever given me singles I haven't seen much capacity.

So, in keeping with cutting numbers and focusing on the current traveling lineup... Phoebe is regretably offered to a new herd.

$600

Prim is currently in milk, I milk in the mornings by machine and she is with her kid during the day.  I then milk out any remaining milk in the evening by hand.  She gets a little crouchy and flinches, but ultimately behaves really well and allows me to milk her fully without trouble.

Prim was a very impressive yearling first freshener, scoring a very nice Linear Appraisal score under the new rating system for immature does (holding them to the expectation of a mature doe).  All characteristic and trait scores are listed on her page.  I was quite happy with her FF udder, great production with having had quads, good medial and teat placement, nice soft texture, milks out nicely and overall showed lots of promise.  This year she only had a single and she's not filling as nicely as she was with quads of course but is still my top producer and milking similar quantities as her first lactation with only have a single vs quads.

We'll be working on updating her photo as she's matured a bit more than shown here and I think she's looking quite lovely!  This sale I'm going to regret but I must be firm with cutting back.

In keeping with this year's general theme of making hard cuts to lessen the workload, Mimi finds herself on it solely because we haven't worked with her to be in the ring (as shown in the photo - she's not relaxed and wanting to stand still!) but she's super sweet and milk stand trained!
